Monthly Stats Webinar Series

I am offering a free monthly webinar series throughout 2026. This series is aimed at people who work with statisticians, and will cover basic (and sometimes advanced!) concepts related to statistics, data, and research, using language a non-statistician can understand.

The purpose is not to learn how to program or perform analyses, but (1) to develop a more solid foundation for understanding statistical reasoning, and (2) to prepare to work with a statistician/analyst/data scientist.

My next webinar will be offered on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 3:00 pm EDT (convert to local time here), and will cover Basic Experimental and Sampling Designs. You can register for this webinar here.

Completely randomized experimental designs, which assign each subject to one condition and record one outcome per subject, are relatively easy to implement and analyze. The equivalent to this for an observational study is simple random sampling, which assigns each member of a population an equal chance to be selected for a sample.

However, there are cases where more complicated designs are required in order to control for other factors, address practical aspects of experimental treatments, or generate more observations from a limited number of individuals. This includes cluster sampling or randomization, stratified sampling, block designs, and repeated measures.

Please join me to learn about circumstances where you might benefit from one of these designs, and what special considerations a statistician or data scientist will consider when analyzing these designs.
